Photography can be both a rewarding hobby and a very profitably business.
As a hobby, it opens a window to the soul. It allows others to see glimpses of what lies locked up in side you. When you view a photograph, emotions are stirred within the viewer. Sometimes, they are driven to the surface in the form of laughter or tears.
As a business, it can still offer the above, but it is done with a dual purpose to both bring pleasure to yourself, and to the ones that purchase your work.
Coming very soon, I will be offering digital photography classes right from this very site. Many have asked me where I learned to do what I do, and if I could teach them. Since so many have asked, I have decided to meet that need by offering a computer based program to teach digital photography.
Within a few short months, you will be able to enroll in a program that will offer both explanations, demonstrations, and practical applications in photography. We will do this through video classes viewed at your convenience online, voluntary homework assignments using what you learned for that week, and follow it up with weekly test review at the end to see what you have learned. In addition, each weekly session comes with a downloadable document containing study notes for that weekly session, along with photos and diagrams included in each video. You can save these to review at a later time, and to help take the test at the end. That's right. you don't even have to take your own notes.
The homework and testing is voluntary, but are there to further your learning. Your homework will be reviewed by your instructor to tell you what you did right, and tips offered for how to improve.
Also, each weekly session will be arranged in sections. This will give you the ability to go back and watch that one piece over and over again, to review that one bit of information. That is better than having to watch the whole lesson over from the beginning.
Lastly, and this is huge, you will be given an email address that you can ask questions to the instructor anytime you have questions.
And get this, the entire class will be taught by myself, an actual practicing photographer.
Within this class, you will learn how your digital camera works, and how to apply that understanding. Or with today's more modern digital cameras, how they "think". Think of it this way. It's like learning to drive a stick shift… You see, it's pretty easy to understand how the clutch works to allow you to change gears, but it is only through practice that you understand the feel needed working the pedal, that keeps you from jerking forward and giving yourself whiplash.
You will also gain a complete understanding of composition. You know that you like that photograph in the magazine, but do you understand why you like it? It's how it flows across your vision that makes one more artistic or likable than the other. We will discuss that, and apply those principles in actual assignments that you will hand in.
These principles, you will learn, can and will be applied to all forms of photography. Landscape, still life, macro, portraits, weddings, product photography, and even abstract art photography all are governed by these rules.
Once you learn them, you will even see them being applied in movies and all of your favorite TV shows.
We will cover all the modes and settings of your camera and demonstrate what each can do for you when properly applied. I found most would be willing to pay me just to explain what all those settings could do for you. Using the various modes properly when you understand what they can do for you, will help you get that shot you are looking for.
Classes are averaged out to be 6 to 8 weeks in length, but the beauty is you get to learn at your own pace. You may finish sooner or it may take you longer.
The price is only $250.00
If you are thinking that you would be interested in participating in this class, please email me for additional information.
SPECIAL OFFER!!! - The class will go live within the month. The first 50 participants will receive a bonus. Instead of having to log in online and view streaming video, you will be mailed a CD that contains the videos instead, along with the complete study guide that you can keep forever and print off. This means your password to view the class will not expire and you may view it over and over again indefinitely on your own computer. I only ask that you provide feedback so that I may tweak the class and improve where it is needed. The CD will launch automatically and you may begin at your leisure by simply inserting the CD in your computer. You will not even be charged shipping and handling. I will pick this up on my own. I will even provide you a private phone number and email address for you to contact me and ask questions.
REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE THIS CLASS:
______________________________
1. A Digital SLR camera with at least one lens. SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. They are the kinds with interchangeable lenses. You can certainly use the smaller digital snapshot type if you plan on getting an SLR soon, but you will not be able to take full advantage of the course's practice assignments without one. Both the Canon Rebel XTi, and the Nikon D80 are great starter cameras. Both are available in kits that include at least one lens.
2. A credit card. Payment will be made by credit or debit card, in advance, to purchase the class through the website. This will be done using a PayPal Merchant account, so you know that you can trust it. You will even be able purchase using a PayPal account if you have one.
3. The desire to learn and improve on a daily basis. All photographers, no matter their experience, are constantly honing their skills and learning from other photographers.
4. The desire to have fun. I don't believe that instruction should be taught by a teacher with a monotone voice and no sense of humor. Photography is fun. It puts a smile on my face doing it. Teaching it, or learning it, should be just as fun. So bring a sense of humor. It is required for this course.
